Special Coagulation

Subtle defects in blood-clotting systems contribute to or exacerbate a host of diseases and pathologies, including heart attack and stroke, and can complicate pregnancy, chronic conditions such as diabetes and autoimmune diseases such as those in the lupus group. Unidentified bleeding and clotting problems can also result in post-surgical complications and interfere with the treatment of existing conditions such as cardiovascular disease.

Established in 2003, the GenPath Special Coagulation laboratory is headed by Yale Arkel, MD, FACP, and De-Hui Wayne Ku, Phd.   Our state-of –the-art facilities, equipment and expert medical staff mean better diagnostic tools for better patient care in treating coagulation problems and bleeding disorders across many specialties, from obstetrics and cardiology to vascular or orthopedic surgery, neurology, oncology, rheumatology and internal medicine.

As coagulation and bleeding defects are often related to many disease states, additional testing for a patient is often needed. Our Special Coagulation laboratory is just one aspect of GenPath. With such a broad spectrum of services and expertise (hematopathology, anatomic pathology, women’s health and molecular diagnosticsour clients are able to fulfill all of their diagnostic needs through a single laboratory source. Our integrated approach to specialty testing ensures faster, more comprehensive results for the patient.

GenPath offers a comprehensive menu of more than 100 advanced Coagulation assays and panels to assist the physician in diagnosing, predicting and managing blood disorders relating to:
  • Primary and Secondary Hemostasis
  • Recognizing Increased Thrombotic Risk
  • Acquired and inherited Bleeding Disorders
